Police tell WKYT that a man in his 20s, driving a white Toyota Camry left the road on Beacon Hill before crashing into several things.

The wreck happened after 12:30 this afternoon. Police say that the driver struck a tree, a set of concrete stairs, and a fence before crashing into a home.

Terry Farmer was inside of her home when she heard the car come barreling through her front yard, "Boom, it sounded like it hit the house and it did."

Neighbors on Beacon Hill Road tell WKYT that they are thankful for the chain link fence. Neighbors believe that the fence helped slow down the white Toyota Camry before crashing into the home.

Police say a man in his twenties, was behind the wheel and blamed faulty brakes on the wreck.

"I don't believe what he said that his brakes failed on him," says Terry Farmer, another neighbor.

Police did not buy that excuse either. Police believe the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for what appeared to be minor injuries.

"Well, it could have been worse if he had hit the tree head on. It may have killed him. So he was lucky. And he was lucky that nobody had been out in the yard and could have gotten run over," adds Farmer.

While Gloria Younger's tree took a beating, she is relieved other things in her yard were sparred,"It could have been worse. It missed my little bush. Which, I'm glad of."

Police tell WKYT that there is little evidence that the driver actually tried to stop because there are not any skid marks in the path.
