Drivers, children avoid serious injury in downtown Lexington crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Four people, including two children, avoided serious injuries after a two-car crash that damaged a building.

It happened just before 7:00 a.m. Thursday morning at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Second Street.

Lexington police say a Chevy Tahoe ran a red light and was hit by a van. The impact of the crash pushed both vehicles into a pallet of masonry sand sitting in front of a building under renovation. The building has minor damage.

Police said two children were in the Chevy Tahoe. Neither was hurt. The driver of the Tahoe was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the van was not injured.
