MCCREARY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Two people have been charged in a deadly car crash.
Investigators say Benjamin Strunk was racing a car on East Ky. 92 in Pine Knot, when he collided with a third car, driven by Steven Maggiora, 53, in August.
We're told Maggiora's car flipped several times before landing in a ditch. Both Strunk and a passenger, Caitlin Moore, 20, were ejected from his car. Moore was pronounced dead at the scene. Strunk was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.
Police told WKYT in August, they believed drugs were likely a factor in the crash.
The McCreary County Record reports a grand jury has indicted Strunk on murder, assault and DUI charges. The driver of the car Strunk was racing, David Hayes, was indicted for complicity to murder, wanton endangerment, and leaving the scene of an accident.
