Drivers deal with slick morning commute

Most main roads appeared to be clear for Friday morning's commute. However, a threat of snow showers, gusty winds and bitterly cold temperatures threatened driving conditions later in the day.

Fayette County Schools were on a one-hour delay Friday. A number of other area school systems closed for the day.

Drivers say the most problems they faced were caused by black ice and slick spots on side streets.

In Masterson Station early Friday, a driver was rear-ended by a hit-and-run driver, which sent one car into a light pole on Buck Lane.

The light pole ended up against someone's garage.

Lexington Police say between 10 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday, they responded to eight accidents. Only one person suffered minor injuries in one of the crashes.
