Man charged after crashing into Lexington police cruiser

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is in jail this morning after police say he crashed into a Lexington police cruiser while driving drunk, then tried to run away.

Lexington Police 23-year-old Zachary Taylor Collins hit an officers cruiser on Main Street near Jefferson around 2a.m. Saturday.

They say Collins then tried to drive away from the scene.

Police were able to catch up with him not long after the incident.

Collins currently lodged at the Fayette County Detention Center. He's charged with DUI and Fleeing the Scene of an Accident.
