GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Events are planned next week in western Kentucky for the annual Earth Day celebration.

All events are Tuesday at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park at Gilbertsville.

The Kentucky Division of Forestry is joining with the Marshall County Soil and Water Conservation District and the park naturalist to offer free earth-friendly items to the community from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. CDT at the lobby entrance patio.

At 10 a.m., the park's landscape gardener is giving a hands-on outdoor workshop on edible landscaping, butterfly gardening, deer issues and low-input sustainable gardening.

At noon, the park naturalist offers an interpretive walk on a new trail.

Electronic recycling can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lobby parking lot. And a rain barrel will be raffled off from tickets sold at the lobby entrance.
