WHITESBURG, Ky. (AP) - An eastern Kentucky county hit with snow from remnants of superstorm Sandy has postponed Halloween trick-or-treating due to the weather.

The Mountain Eagle reports that Letcher County officials rescheduled trick-or-treating hours for Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. after some communities, especially in mountainous regions, got up to a foot of snow on Tuesday.

The newspaper reports lower elevations received about an inch of snow.

Letcher County Judge-Executive Jim Ward said crews were working to clear roads of snow and downed trees and shelters would remain open for those without power.
