Elderly man robbed in Lexington home invasion

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- Folks in one Lexington neighborhood are on edge after one of their neighbors became a victim of the a home invasion Saturday night.

Neighbors say crime is rare in the neighborhood off Chinoe Road, especially at the home of an 89-year-old man who lives on Colt Neck Road, where police say he was watching the UK basketball game Saturday aftenroon, alone, when he was attacked.

"They placed a pillowcase over his head while they searched the house and stole some items," said Lt. Dean Marcum, with the Lexington Police Department.

Elderly and disabled, police say the man was defenseless as three suspects, two men and one woman, robbed him for nearly an hour.

"He was unable to move and he didn't resist which was the proper thing to do and he didn't see them," said Marcum.

Police tell us they are not yet releasing the victim's name for his own protection.

"In these cases, someone who comes and does this kind of a crime has some knowledge of this house and the resident that lives there and I think that may be what's going on here," said Marcum.

Right now, the only confirmed item that was stolen from the man's home is a large flat screen TV.

With no description to go on of the suspects, police tell us they will continue to canvass the area looking for evidence.
