Elderly woman shoots juvenile during altercation

State Police say a woman will not face charges for shooting a juvenile.

Troopers were called to a home in the Littcarr community of Knott County for a report of a domestic violence dispute. When they arrived, they found a juvenile with a gun shot wound to the leg.

Witnesses at the scene tell police the juvenile was armed with a weapon and charged toward an elderly woman. They also told investigators the woman warned the juvenile to stop multiple times before firing a gun she had in her possession.

Police describe the juvenile's injury as non-life threatening and minor. That juvenile was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Again, police do not plan to press charges against the woman in the case.

A man at the scene was arrested by the Knott County Sheriff's department. Jonathon Sparkman is charged with domestic violence.
