MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - It’s been nearly a week since a Madison County teenager disappeared but investigators still don't know where she is. On Friday, her family and friends gathered again to pray for answers.
A few hours before the vigil, crews scouring 800 acres of Madison County's wooded foothills looking for any small clues that would help answer the big question -- what happened to Brookelyn Farthing last Saturday?
“It’s a heavy burden, it worries us and it would me and you if it was our child. I just hope they find her alive and well,” said Roy Himes, a friend of the family.
With Farthing’s whereabouts still unknown—Farthings’ friends, family and neighbors are trying to find comfort. On Friday night they found just that in one another at a vigil held for the 18-year-old girl.
“It tells me that this is a carrying community because we've never had anything like this happen to us so close to home,” Himes told us.
The vigil was held at Pilot Knob Baptist Church which isn’t far from where Farthing was last seen.
Police say even after searching the area all day Friday, they still weren’t able to find any clues to solve this missing persons case.
Farthings’ loved ones say with each passing day, more prayers are needed until they finally get that phone call saying that Farthing has been found safe and sound.
Each member of the community came out to Friday’s vigil for one reason-- to hope and pray for Brookelyn Farthings’ safe and speedy return.
We’re told a fund has been set up at People's Bank to raise money for a reward in this case.
