Employee duct taped and tied up in gas station robbery

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - It was a brazen crime that has left many people shocked. A robber tied up and duct taped an employee at a Georgetown gas station and took off with cash.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office says a man came into the gas station right before midnight and forced his way into the back office. "The store manager was in the office when he heard a knock," explains Scott County Sheriff Tony Hampton, "when he opened the door the suspect pushed his way in."

When inside, police say the robber tied up the employee and assaulted him. "That just shows his intent, he had a plan and it was excused. When he went in there with the duct tape, hitting him, kicking him, while he was on the ground, that showed an extra level of violence."

He was able to leave with a large sum of money as well as destroy the surveillance video. However, we've been able to retrieve it and plan on releasing it to the public in hopes that we can identify him.

"That's why we hope to be able to release this video and get it to the media so we can get his picture out there."
