Equipment, weapons stolen out of police vehicle

A theft investigation is raising safety concerns today.

27 NEWSFIRST has learned that someone was able to break into a Lexington Police detective's unmarked-vehicle and steal several pieces of equipment and two weapons.

Sherelle Roberts, spokesperson for the Lexington Division of Police says she couldn't provide specifics because its an on-going investigation.

Roberts said the theft occurred on Wednesday and the detective had his weapons locked up and followed protocol.
