Ex-NKU president to make $287K to teach

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) - The recently retired president of Northern Kentucky University will be paid $287,675 per year when he returns to the school in 2013 to teach a pair of doctoral level classes.

The salary is 85 percent of Jim Votruba's former pay as the school's president and at least $100,000 more than former University of Kentucky President Lee Todd will make as an Engineering professor.

Northern Kentucky University also has funded two separate insurance policies that will provide $45,000 a year through 2018 and $38,500 a year through 2022.

Votruba will earn total cash payments of at least $371,000 annually his first several years.

Votruba told The Kentucky Enquirer (http://bit.ly/Tlh7W9 ) the salary reflects the two classes and his work with state and national groups seeking to improve K-12 education and college readiness.
