The cold and snowy winter is keeping the Salvation army in Lexington busy.
So far this year, Salvation Army officials say they've provided emergency shelter for more than 560 women and children in Lexington. That's a 60% increase over the previous year.
The Salvation Army has not turned anyone away.
Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. the Salvation Army is hosting a Zumba charity event at their gym on West Main Street. All of the money raised will go to benefit the shelter.
