LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A soldier apprehended in Tennessee has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a civilian employee at Fort Knox.
FBI spokeswoman Mary Trotman said Thursday night that Marquinta E. Jacobs, who is named in a court filing, is the man whom Army investigators said was apprehended Thursday in Portland, Tenn.
The FBI said in the court filing that Jacobs fired a .45-caliber handgun at the victim, "striking him several times."
The victim's name hasn't been released.
The shooting occurred late Wednesday afternoon and prompted a brief lockdown at the central Kentucky post.
The soldier is a member of Fort Knox's 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.
