UPDATE: Arrests made for fake money found in Williamsburg

Updated: Tue 9:45 PM, Jan 29, 2013

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WKYT) - Police in Williamsburg say they've made two arrests for counterfeit money that's been going around the city.

Police say while serving a search warrant at a home on Meadow Creek Road Tuesday afternoon, they found several printers and scanners, along with other equipment used to make the counterfeit money.

They then arrested 28-year-old Terry O'Leary and 31-year-old Amanda Cox at the home.

Police say 15 counterfeit bills were recovered in just one day.

Police say the problems with the funny money started Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon more calls came in.

"They'll target fast food restaurants and small businesses, catch them at busy times," said Bird.

At first glance, the money looks real, but police say there's actually a fairly easy way to tell the money is nothing but fake.

"Obvious discoloration in the bills. The way they feel. Look at it. It doesn't look like the normal size 20 dollar bill," said Bird.
