MONTICELLO, Ky. (WKYT) - We're tracking the investigation into a frightening crime that targeted a Southern Kentucky family.
Police in Monticello say robbers forced their way inside the family's home on Evelyn Avenue around 2:30 Thursday morning and held both the adults and two young children inside at gunpoint.
"There had been a female come to the door and say that she needs help," said Monticello Police Detective Derek Lester.
He says the homeowner, who doesn't speak English, had his 11-year-old daughter tell the woman they couldn't help her at that time of night.
"So, they went back to bed and two-three minutes later another knock on the door," the Detective said.
This time he says, when they opened the door the woman forced her way inside, a second woman and a man followed behind.
"They put a gun to the family's heads and threatened to kill them if they called police," he said.
