MONTICELLO, Ky. (WKYT/WYMT) – Update: 7-28-14
We now know how a Wayne County man died two months ago.
Investigators now say Marshall Alley died from Hypothermia.
His body was found in May near Elk Creek North of Monticello.
Alley disappeared in February after he was dropped off at a local shopping center.
Marshall “Kay” Alley, 69, was always known to be close to his family. Now, his doesn't know what to think as it has been three weeks since anyone has seen his father.
“He’d been released from jail, dropped off a couple of streets from here, and no one has seen him since,” Randy Alley said.
That was on February 21. Kay Alley was supposedly headed home on foot, after his incarceration on domestic violence charges, but his son doesn’t think the disappearance has anything to do with his father’s recent run-in with the law.
“I wouldn’t think so. It (the domestic violence incident) was against my mom and she’s about to worry herself to death,” said Alley.
Alley says his dad always kept to the same routine and others say they would usually see him frequently at Dairy Queen or at the bank on Mondays. Alley says his dad has been in poor health.
“He’s had a stroke or two, and bad memory,” he said.
Both the Wayne County Sheriff’s office and Kentucky State Police have searched the area but found no sign of him.
“They’ve searched caves, they’ve been to family and friends' houses, looked in ditch rows and creeks. It seems like everyone has looked everywhere and could not find anything,” he said.
Police say they are not sure what happened and are not ready to rule whether his absence is the result of an accident, foul play or something else. They say they just don't know.
