"I said get my babies out," said Donna Burton, just two days after her home was destroyed in a fire.

The wounds are fresh, and you can hear the pain in Donna Burton's voice, "I had three miniature dachshunds that were inside my house. The fire was intense there was no way."

Everything in their lives is gone, following a fire Sunday in Jessamine County.

"They couldn't save anything everything we had went up in flames. I haven't even got even been able to go out and bury the dogs yet. I have two that are still in the cage. We haven't found the third one yet," said Scott Burton.

What makes the situation even more difficult for the Burton family is the fact that they don't even have insurance, leaving them scrambling as to what they are going to do next.

"The red crossed helped us with three nights at the motel but we have no place to go after that."

"You never think it will happen to you but when it does. It's a living nightmare."

The Burtons are staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Nicholasville.
The Red Cross has provided them with food and clothing vouchers for the next three days as well.
