Farmer withdraws request for unemployment

Former Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer has changed his mind about seeking unemployment benefits.

The Louisville Courier-Journal reports Farmer has withdrawn his motion for unemployment.

Under state law, elected officials are not eligible for unemployment benefits.

The state is working on an audit of the Agriculture Department stemming from Farmer's time in office.
