LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Officials are Fayette County Public Schools are looking to expand offerings in arts education after a 17-member panel recommended the action in a new report.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Fayette County Schools Superintendent Tom Shelton said he hopes to have specific proposals by the end of the current school year.

The report submitted to the Fayette County Board of Education on Monday recommends expanding the School for the Creative and Performing Arts in addition to increasing the amount of arts education offered to all students.

Shelton says he hopes to make at least some changes by the time classes begin in the fall.
