Fiery crash backs up interstate in Madison Co.

Updated: Fri 10:47 PM, Dec 21, 2012

RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - A fiery crash involving a tractor trailer caused a traffic backup Friday in the southbound lanes of I-75.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon around mile marker 92, just north of Richmond.

Flames and thick, black smoke poured from the tractor trailer after witnesses say it ran off the road and crashed. Officials tell us the truck was trying to avoid a collision, after being cut off by a car.

The driver was taken to UK Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

By Friday evening, the crash had been cleared and traffic had returned to normal along that stretch of southbound I-75.
