LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The final pieces of a massive Artic exhibit at the Louisville Zoo are coming together.

The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/UFRHUE) reports work is proceeding after a lengthy delay on a large aviary that will be home to two Steller's sea eagles and another area that will house snowy owls. The eagle exhibit is expected to open near the Thanksgiving holiday; the owls are expected to be available for public viewing next spring.

Zoo Director John Walczak said the $1.2 million eagle exhibit will be next to the zoo's splash park and near the existing Glacier Run amphitheater.

Initially, the aviary and the snowy owl area were expected to be complete this past summer, but Walczak says issues with the delivery of construction materials and changes in design plans caused delays.
