LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Crews were called to the scene of a fire that damaged three apartments just before 9 p.m. Tuesday night.

The house, along Withers Avenue, near North Broadway, had been divided into three apartments.

Firefighters say the fire broke out in the kitchen of one of those units and quickly spread.

"All I heard was a bing bing on the door, and my boyfriend's mother said 'What was that?' I got up and looked out the door, and he said, there's a fire!" Crystal Grimes, who lives next to the apartment that caught fire, said.

Firefighters say they quickly got the fire under control, and no one was injured.

We're told one unit has heavy fire damage. The other units have smoke and water damage.

All three families have been told to find another place to stay.

We're told the Red Cross is helping them.
