Fire sweeps through buildings in Shelbyville

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A predawn fire has swept through two buildings in downtown Shelbyville, blocking traffic and producing columns of smoke.

Authorities say city and county firefighters are battling the blaze that was reported shortly before 5 a.m. EST Wednesday.

Shelby County 911 Dispatcher Sheri Abshire says the fire has been contained, and no injuries are reported.

The fire spread through a Mexican restaurant and a counseling center in the central Kentucky community.
