Firefighter gets call to own home in western Kentucky

SYMSONIA, Ky. (AP) - A volunteer firefighter found he was dispatched to a blaze at his own home.

According to The Paducah Sun, Mark Reid was on his way home from work in Mayfield on Wednesday afternoon when he received the fire call. The 45-year-old member of the Symsonia Fire Department was on his way when he learned the fire was at his home.

Reid said his wife, Rebecca, was also at work when the fire began. The couple's two children were not harmed.

Symsonia Fire Chief Wally Nall said the cause of the fire was unknown Wednesday evening.

Reid told the newspaper he had been planning to remodel his home of 16 years before it burned.
