LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Lexington Fire Department came to the rescue of a dog, stuck in a tight spot.

A 14-year-old Collie/Newfoundland mix, named Riainn, fell through an iced over lake. It happened around eight Wednesday morning on Edgewater Drive. The dog fell off a retaining wall during its morning walk, and into the water.

Firefighters say the dog was stuck in the icy water, about five feet from the shore.

Firefighters put on their cold water immersion suits and get into the water. They pulled the dog free.

Riainn was stuck in the water for about 20 minutes. Firefighters warmed and dried the dog. It was cold but otherwise unhurt.
