FORT KNOX, Ky. (AP) - Fort Knox plans to honor three firefighters who responded to the Pentagon when it was attacked by terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001.
Russ Gold, a lead associate with defense contractor Booz Allen Hamilton and vice chairman of the Patton Museum Foundation, told The News-Enterprise that the men will be welcomed as heroes. The company plans to pay the travel expenses for Alan Wallace, Dennis Young and Mark Skipper.
The move comes as the fire truck that the men served on goes on display at the newly renovated General George Patton Museum of Leadership at the central Kentucky Army post as a symbol of hope and heroism.
The trip will occur on the 12th anniversary of the attacks and lead into the Fort Knox Patriot Day ceremony.
