DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - In 2004, Jeffrey Guest was the quarterback for the Danville Admirals, a team used to scoring a lot of touchdowns.
After high school, a spot on the Campbellsville University team was waiting for him. In 2009, an accident on U.S. 27 in Lincoln County cut his college career short.
"As the years go on I think, I could be in those shoes, or I could still be playing right now," said Guest.
Jeffrey Guest is now confined to a wheelchair, paralyzed from the waist down. His devastating injury has him on a new team, one that's called Team Jeffrey.
"More of a community team. Instead of it all being focused on me. Everyone in Danville and surrounding communities helping me out. "
They've sold t-shirts, key chains, held barbeques and fundraisers. All for treatment in hopes that he'll walk again someday.
"It cost $32,000 for the whole procedure."
His football days are over. He believes raising the right amount of money could at least help him walk again.
"So I can get down and play with my son. Playing tackle with him. Teaching him the basic things, whatever other things he would want in life," he said.
A fundraiser is set for August 3 at Danville's Millenium Park.
