Former Juvenile Justice property goes to college

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Twelve acres in Lexington that used to be the Department for Juvenile Justice complex has been turned over to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.

The plan is for Bluegrass Community and Technical College to use the property on Newtown Pike for future growth and program offerings.

Gov. Steve Beshear's office says the property was transferred in October. It includes seven buildings. Renovation is expected to be finished by the end of next year with Bluegrass Community and Technical College beginning to use it in January 2014.

Beshear's office says the college expects to use the space for adult education, program expansion, and career planning and admissions.
