Updated: Sat 9:38 AM, Nov 17, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Former Lexington Police officer Keith Todd, who pleaded not guilty to several charges for a crash that injured a woman back in March, has changed his plea to guilty.

Investigators say Todd was under the influence of prescription pills when he drove his Mercedes onto the Legacy Trail, injuring a walker back in March.

A grand jury indicted Todd on charges of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, as well as assault, DUI and wanton endangerment.

Todd originally pleaded not guilty to the charges but at a status hearing Friday morning he changed his plea.

The Commonwealth's attorney recommended up to seventeen years for all the charges. The victim, Penny Bentley, her family, as well as Todd's family were all present in court.

Todd will be sentenced January 11th, 2013.
