Former Lexington teacher pleads guilty to sexual abuse

LEXINGTON, Ky (WKYT) - Jason Thompson sat quietly during a hearing Thursday morning in Fayette Circuit Court, only answering "yes sir" as the judge asked him if he was guilty. The six charges against Thompson were reduced from sodomy and sexual abuse to six counts of second degree sexual abuse.

Thompson is a former Leestown Middle School teacher. He resigned in 2011 after school officials brought up the allegations.

The court listed four different victims that Thompson admitted to sexually abusing in his home. According to the indictments against Thompson all of the boys were under the age of 18, at least one was younger than 14 years-old. The recommended sentence was 12 months for each of the six charges. Prosecutors say by law those terms must run concurrently. Thompson has also been ordered to have no contact with any of the victims and to undergo a sex offender assessment.

If the court follows that recommendation Thompson will also have to register as a sex offender for 20 years. He'll return to court on April 25 for his final sentencing.
