LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Tyler Hicks, a former Scott County High School basketball standout, and the son of Scott Co. coach Billy Hicks, died Friday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to the Fayette County coroner's office.

Hicks was injured Tuesday night in a car crash on the Bluegrass Parkway.

Hicks played for the Cardinals from 2000 to 2004.

As a senior, the guard helped lead the Cardinals to a 28-7 record and a trip to the semifinals of the state tournament.

Scott Co. alumni and friends of Hicks have scheduled a candlelight gathering at 7 p.m. Friday at Scott County Park.
