Updated: Fri 12:46 AM, Aug 31, 2012

Lexington, Ky. (WKYT) - A former University of Kentucky men's basketball player was back in court on Thursday.

Michael Porter is charged with six counts of third-degree sodomy and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

Police say Porter had oral sex with a girl who was 14 and 15-years old at the time of the alleged incidents.

According to court documents, Porter met the girl at a church function while working as a youth group leader at Southland Christian Church.

Police arrested Porter in May.

A grand jury indicted him earlier this month.

Porter pleaded not guilty during his court appearance on Thursday.

He did not make any statements during his time in court.

During the hearing, Judge James Ishmael told the court he and his wife attended Southland Christian Church for a time.

He said he did not know Michael Porter or the alleged victim in the case.

Porter will be back in court in October.
