(Harrodsburg, KY.) – The son of the Scott County High School boy's basketball coach is in the hospital after a crash.
Kentucky State Police received a report of a single vehicle injury crash around 8:00 Tuesday night on the Bluegrass Parkway in Mercer County.
Troopers say a 2004 Toyota Corolla, driven by 27-year old William Tyler Hicks of Georgetown, was traveling west on the Bluegrass Parkway. The vehicle went onto the center shoulder and struck a guardrail.
Hicks was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in critical condition.
Hicks is the son of Scott County Coach Billy Hicks. Tyler Hicks also played for Scott County when the team reached the Final Four in the 2004 Sweet Sixteen Tournament.
Friends tell WKYT Hicks, now a soldier in the U.S. Army was traveling back to Fort Knox when he crashed.
Hicks was wearing a seatbelt. There were no other passengers in the vehicle. Investigators say they have no reason to believe this was anything more than a tragic accident.
