LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- Folks in Lexington are painting the town red, white, and blue Friday to celebrate America's birthday.
There are several events planned for the Fourth of July celebration.
The day kicked off with the Bluegrass 10K at 7:30 Friday morning.
Organizers say more than 3,100 runners signed up for this year's race.
The street fair opened up at 9:00 a.m. Kelly Hieronymus has worked at the fair before and says this Independence Day is off to a great start.
"It's a beautiful day. Last year, if anyone remembers, it was pouring rain and the year before that it was disgustingly humid. So today, we have a perfect day right in the middle of those two. We're really excited to sell some canned beer. We're hoping to sell out of all our beer today. We're just hanging out and enjoying the atmosphere," she said.
The street fair will run until 6:00 p.m., but the parade will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Marchers will go down Main Street between Midland and Broadway.
And of course fireworks will go off at 10:00 Friday evening.
