LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Norman Kiper was a service manager at the Bill Collins Ford in Louisville.
He was on the job, sitting at his desk in the garage area, when the unthinkable happened.
Paula Kiper is now left to plan a funeral after the freak accident killed her husband, Norman Kiper, while he was at work.
"There's that sense of if I could just have back the past 2 days and Paula, all she wants is to have him back, that's all she wants, just to see him one more time," said Darla Novosel, Kiper's cousin.
Kiper was at his desk, while another employee was attempting to move an SUV onto the garage lift rack for service.
The vehicle was modified for a disabled driver though, and the employee accidentally hit the accelerator...sending the vehicle lurching forward into Kiper, temporarily pinning him to his desk.
"Yesterday you would have never dreamed you were in this situation," said Novosel.
Emergency crews rushed Kiper to University Hospital, where he would die 45 minutes later.
"We were blessed to have had him in our lives," Novosel said.
The coroner on scene said Kiper died from multiple blunt-force injuries.
