FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - A suspect remains on the run after a violent robbery outside a Central Kentucky pharmacy.

Frankfort police say a man punched and robbed a woman outside the Rite Aid in the Eastwood Shopping Center Wednesday afternoon. Police tell us the Rite Aid employee was leaving the store with the day's deposits.

"I heard tires squalling. And that's what made me look up, and then when I looked out from the drive through I saw the lady laying in the road," explained Teresa Smith, who works at the Concord Custom Cleaners across from the Rite Aid.

Police say what Smith heard Wednesday afternoon was a truck that hit the robber. WKYT spoke with the driver of the truck off camera. He tells us he saw a man punch a Rite Aid employee and run away with a bag of money, then the driver sped up and intentionally hit the robber to try and get him to stop.

"We did cordon off the area, we searched the area with K-9 units, but as of now we haven't been successful in locating him," explains Frankfort Police Major Fred Deaton.

The description police are releasing is of a black male around six feet tall with a short gray beard wearing a blue jacket and a green hoodie.

"That's scary. That makes me scared," says Smith, "you just don't trust nobody any more."

This isn't the first time Rite Aid employees at the Eastwood Shopping Center have been robbed. Less than two weeks ago, men went inside the store and took money from the register.

Rite Aid is offering $10,000 for information leading up to arrests in both cases. Franklin County Crime Stoppers are offering up to $2,000 for information on both crimes.

Tips can be called in to Franklin County Crime Stoppers at (502) 875-8648.
