FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A murder trial in Franklin County ended suddenly on Tuesday, when the suspect entered a guilty plea.
Court workers say James Simons plead guilty to Manslaughter, Robbery, Evidence Tampering, and Assault.
As part of a plea deal, Simons will spend 25 years in prison. Simons had been charged with murder.
Police say the victim, Charles Monroe, was beaten to death, then left on the side of Interstate 64 in 2012. Two other men were also charged in the case.
