LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The new school year at UK is kicking off with 4,500 freshmen, many of which are moving into the dorms today.

UK President Dr. Eli Capilouto greeted these new students on campus this morning with a smile.

"Together were getting these kids off to a great start, and we all look forward to four years from now to celebrate their graduations," said UK President Dr. Capilouto.

"Everything's all hyped up. We have like football players unloading my car, and the band is getting everybody all crazy and excited. It's awesome," said Stephanie Kessel, who is a UK freshman.

More than 1,000 people are on hand volunteering until five this evening.

Football players, staff members, and returning UK student are helping out to make sure move-in day goes smoothly.
