LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Bittersweet is the way many of Alex Johnson’s friends described the birthday party they held for the missing 33-year-old on Thursday night.
Friends tell us Thursday's event is meant to keep attention on his disappearance and raise awareness for the case.
A poster board of Alex Johnson’s pictures served as a greeting for guests at Thursday’s special celebration, showcasing the memories and moments captured with the 33-year-old over the years.
Alex’s collection of friends packed into Blue Stallion Brewing Company on Third Street in Lexington where a birthday party and vigil was held for the missing man.
33 white balloons were inscribed with messages for their dear friend while dozens of white candles helped light the way across the street, where the balloons were let go.
The sound of friends singing happy birthday was followed by silence as they released the balloons into the night sky and hoped for one birthday wish to come true.
Family and friends are still working on putting up as many billboards as possible around town in hopes to continue to get the word out and bring Alex home.
