CASEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Friends say he had a passion for his sport and dreams of making it his career, but that dream was cut short. Austin Mincey, 14, was a involved in a motocross crash Sunday. He later died from those injuries.

"He was pursuing his dream of riding dirt bikes," said Casey County High School Principal Josh Blevins.

He says Mincey was taking online high school courses, while training in Indiana to become a professional racer.

"He had goals. He had a vision for himself. He knew what he wanted to achieve," said Blevins.

Friends call the Freshman a jokester and say he always had a smile on his face.

"If you were upset, you could go to him and he would help you. By the end of the talk, he would make you feel completely better," said Kyra Eads.

The school will offer grief counseling for any student who needs it.
