A Flood Watch and a Winter Storm Watch are out for the entire region late Tuesday through early Thursday. Heavy rain develops Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and may put down 1”-3” in some areas. We are looking at the possibility of significant snow and sleet from late Wednesday through early Thursday.
The past few days we have been watching as a cold front developed and started moving toward Kentucky. That front is here and it will continue to sweep through Kentucky this weekend. That means we could see showers and storms. The potential for heavy amounts of rain will also linger in the area this weekend.
Generally, we'll see rainfall amounts around 1-2" in our area. However, some amounts could be higher with the more intense storms that come together. Keep an eye on the creeks and streams as they could get a little high.
Beyond the messy wet beginning of the weekend, I think the second half will be amazing! Maybe a bit cool for most of us. The front will be followed by an area of high pressure. The high will bring a much cooler airmass into the Commonwealth. Highs on Sunday will be hard pressed to get out of the upper 60s. Yes... I said the upper 60s! The overnight lows could be even worse. That means they drop off into the 40s.
The rest of the week looks amazing!
