COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Gucci and Coach handbags will sit next to purses created out of military boots and seatbelts during a northern Kentucky fundraiser next month to benefit people with special needs.
The creative fundraiser called Purses 4 A Purpose is being hosted by Julea Schuh and Judy VonHandorf to benefit The Point. The Covington company was founded in 1972 with a mission of providing people with special needs the right opportunities so that they can reach their potential educationally, residentially, socially and vocationally.
Schuh says she hopes to collect 500 handbags before the April 23 event in Wilder at the Marquise.
She said designer and designer-inspired purses will be available to up to 350 women at reasonable prices.
