BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - A Kentucky police department is raising money to help honor a fallen officer. The Old Kentucky Home FOP 43 is offering a $5 porkchop lunch. They're hoping to raise $3,000.

The fundraiser will support local law enforcement in Bardstown who will travel to Washington D.C. next month. That's when Officer Jason Ellis' name will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial on May 13.

Ellis was ambushed, shot and killed on the Bluegrass Parkway on May 25, 2013. No arrests have been made.

"Jason was very active in the community, not only as a law enforcement officer but he was a little league baseball coach. So it shows how much we put into the community we live in," says FOP President Ramon Pineriroa.

This is their second fundraiser. They hope to have a total of $5,000 for both fundraisers by the time the lunch ends at 2:00 p.m. Friday.
