LANCASTER, Ky. (WKYT) - An investigation is under way after a Garrard County home caught on fire twice Friday night.
The first fire started around 5:30 p.m. Friday. According to firefighters, it started in the cellar below the floor of the home while the couple and their infant were inside.
Crews were able to get that fire out fairly quickly with minimal damage to the home.
The family tells us they then left to spend the night at another family members’ home.
Around 9:30 p.m. after firefighters left the scene, a second fire started at the back of the home. By the time firefighters arrived, the family says flames were visible through the second floor of the home.
Firefighters tell us they believe both fires were intentionally set.
Kentucky State Police confirmed they do have arson investigators working the case.
A fund has been set up to help the family at the Chase Bank on Eastern Bypass. It is under the name of Tinito Bailey.
"And we lost everything, except for my family thank God," said Tennille Allaf.
