GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - A father faces charges after neighbors reportedly found his 4-year-old son outside and alone with no shoes or shirt.
Georgetown Police say the man was inside his home, too drunk to realize his son was missing.
Anthony McDowell is in the Scott County Detention Center right now because his neighbors woke up about 1:00 a.m. Sunday to see his 4-year-old son out in the freezing cold asking where his dad was.
Shortly after McDowell was arrested, police also charged him with drug trafficking.
They say he was selling prescription drugs out of the home he lived in with his young son on Parkside Drive.
McDowell's sister Brandy now has custody of Carter.
When we saw him, he was all smiles.
She says they're lucky he's in good shape and that he didn't knock on the wrong house. But she says that doesn't justify what happened.
"I know he loves his son to death but he knew what he was doing. He knew he was wrong and he feels it now."
McDowell is charged with three felonies: one for the wanton endangerment of his son and two others for drug trafficking.
McDowell was arraigned on drug charged Thursday morning, and had a preliminary hearing in the endangerment case Thursday afternoon.
