SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A 10-year-old girl is facing life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car in Scott County.
The accident happened on Highway 460, by the Scott County Airport, Tuesday afternoon.
Neighbors say the Fox family lives along the highway, a short distance from where the accident happened.
Scott County officials say Autumn Fox crossed the highway to pick a flower, and then was hit when she was heading back to the car.
WKYT reached out to Fox's elementary school. Director of Human Resources Rick Culross says, "The family and the young lady are in the prayers of the Scott County School District." He says the district will monitor the needs of the family.
Fox was taken to UK Children's Hospital.
The Fox family released this statement about the girl's condition:
"We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and positive thoughts. Right now we are just waiting for Autumn to wake up. She is in stable condition as of now and will hopefully stay in stable condition so she can undergo surgery on her leg tomorrow."
The driver will not be charged for this accident.
