Girl injured in zip lining accident at Lexington festival

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- An 11 year old girl is currently undergoing tests at the UK Pediatric Emergency Room Saturday night.

Firefighters say she was zip lining at the crawfish festival at the Red Mile when she fell about 18 feet.

Police tell WKYT almost as soon as the girl left the platform her harness failed and she landed on her back in a grassy area.

She was complaining about pain in one of her legs and internally in her stomach.

Police said her injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

While on scene police and firefighters noticed a broken carabiner clip on the harness the girl was using...they took the broken piece into custody and filed a personal injury report.
