LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A young girl says she was scared for her life after she says a man chased her through a Lexington park.
It happened near Marlboro Park, between North Broadway and Russell Cave Road, just before two a.m. Thursday overnight.
The 12-year-old girl was able to get away from the man and ran to a nearby neighbor's house for help.
Police say they are investigating the girl's claim that she was abducted from her home just blocks away from the park. She told police that the man entered her room and threatened her and her family, luring her to the park.
Rhonda Moffit, a woman who lives right next to the park, said that she awoke to the girl ringing her doorbell over and over, and when she opened the door, the barefoot girl seemed panicked.
"She wasn't able to say a lot because she was so traumatized," Moffit said. "I've never seen anything like it."
The girl said a man with dreadlocks was chasing after her. Moffit called 911.
Police told WKYT that they are handling the situation and following up with the girl at the hospital, where she was taken to treat minor injuries as a precaution.
So far, there is no word on any arrests or suspects.
